Privacy Policy - Minor Bugs

Introduction

Minor Bugs ("we", "our" or "us") develops and publishes mobile games for iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect information about players ("you") and your devices. It applies when you play our games, visit our websites, or interact with us via social media or customer support. If you do not agree with the practices described below, please do not use our games.

1. Data We Collect

We collect only the data needed to operate and improve our games and to serve contextual or personalised advertisements. The categories of data we may collect include:

  1. Identifiers and device information: such as your mobile advertising identifier (e.g., IDFA on iOS or Google Advertising ID on Android), IP address, device type, operating system, language setting, time zone and unique installation-specific IDs. Ad networks (e.g., Google AdMob, AppLovin/MAX, BidMachine, Mintegral, Pangle, Unity Ads, Liftoff/Vungle, Bigo Ads, Meta Audience Network, InMobi) collect similar identifiers through their SDKs to serve ads; some may infer approximate location from your IP address.

  2. Usage data: information about how you interact with our games (such as levels completed, game session length, in‑game purchases), user product interactions and diagnostic information (e.g., crash logs and performance metrics). Advertising partners may also collect information about which ads were served and whether you viewed or clicked on them.

  3. Account and contact information: If you contact us for support or subscribe to our newsletter, we may collect your name, email address and any information you submit. We use this information solely to respond to your request and will not share it for marketing without your consent.

  4. Location information: We infer approximate location from your IP address to deliver the correct language version and comply with regional regulations. We do not access precise GPS locations unless you explicitly grant permission in your device settings and we have a legitimate purpose (for example, to serve region‑specific events). Partners like Pangle and InMobi may process approximate or precise geolocation to deliver regional ads.

  5. Cookies and similar technologies: Our website and third‑party partners may use cookies, pixel tags or SDKs to record analytics and deliver ads.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data (such as race, religion, health, political views) or information about children under 13. If you believe we have unintentionally collected such data, please contact us immediately.

2. How We Use the Data

We use the collected data for the following purposes:

  • Provide and operate our games: to save progress, perform analytics, fix bugs, and ensure our games work properly on your device.

  • Improve and personalize gameplay: to understand player behaviour, balance game difficulty, run A/B tests, and customize in‑game offers.

  • Advertising and monetization: to show contextual or personalised ads (where permitted) and measure ad performance. We integrate third‑party advertising SDKs (see Section 4) that may collect identifiers, usage data and coarse location to deliver, target, cap frequency and measure ads.

  • Analytics and attribution: to understand marketing effectiveness and where players come from. We use mobile measurement partners (e.g., AppsFlyer, Adjust, Kochava, Branch) that act as impartial referees, attributing installs and in‑app events using device identifiers. These partners process data to provide aggregated reports, detect fraud and optimise campaigns. They are prohibited from using the data for other purposes without consent and provide opt‑out mechanisms.

  • Customer support and communication: to respond to your support requests, send important service announcements and (with your consent) marketing newsletters.

  • Legal compliance and fraud prevention: to comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms of Service, detect fraudulent or abusive behaviour, and protect the safety of players and our rights.

3. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR/UK GDPR)

We rely on one or more of the following legal bases to process personal data:

  • Performance of a contract: We process data to provide the services you request, such as operating the game and saving progress.

  • Legitimate interests: We have a legitimate interest in analysing and improving our games, preventing fraud, and monetising through advertising; we balance these interests against your rights and expectations.

  • Consent: For personalised advertising, marketing communications and the use of certain cookies, we obtain your consent. On iOS, we comply with Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework: if you opt in, we and our partners may track your activity across apps and websites for ads and measurement. You can withdraw consent at any time in the game settings or via the device’s privacy controls.

  • Compliance with legal obligations: We may process data to meet record‑keeping, tax or regulatory obligations or to respond to lawful requests from authorities.

4. Third‑Party SDKs and Partners

We integrate several advertising and analytics partners. Each partner processes data as described in their own privacy policies. We encourage you to read those policies to understand their practices and opt‑out options. The main partners include:

These partners act as independent controllers or processors. We use contractual clauses and data‑processing agreements to ensure they protect personal data and comply with privacy laws. If you opt out of personalised advertising, we will instruct our partners not to use your data for cross‑app tracking.

5. Data Sharing and Transfers

We may share your data:

  • With service providers: companies that host our servers, provide analytics, customer support or payment processing. These providers may access your data only to perform services on our behalf.

  • With advertising and measurement partners: as explained above. They may combine information collected from our games with data from other apps or websites if you consent to tracking

  • With authorities or to protect our rights: to comply with legal requests, enforce our policies, investigate fraud or protect the safety of players.

  • In connection with a business transfer: if we sell or merge our business, personal data may be transferred as part of the transaction.

Your data may be transferred to countries outside your country of residence (including the United States, Europe, and Singapore). We use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or rely on adequacy decisions to ensure your data is protected.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above. Generally, we keep gameplay data and advertising IDs for no longer than 24 months after last use, unless we are required by law to retain it longer (e.g., for tax or legal obligations). When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

  • Access and portability: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.

  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data (the right to be forgotten). Note that deleting your advertising identifier or resetting it via device settings will limit personalized ads but may not delete gameplay data.

  • Objection and restriction: Object to our processing of your data or request that we restrict processing.

  • Opt‑out of personalised ads: On iOS, decline permission when prompted by Apple’s tracking dialog; on Android, reset or disable the advertising ID in settings. You can also opt out of personalised ads through each partner’s settings (see partner links above). Within our games, look for a "Privacy" or "Data Settings" section to view and change your preferences. You may still see ads, but they will be less relevant.

  • Do Not Sell or Share: If you are a California or other U.S. state resident, you can exercise the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data by clicking the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in our games or contacting us.

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@minorbugs.com. We may ask you to verify your identity before responding. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data‑protection authority.

8. Children’s Privacy

Our games are intended for a general audience and are not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child, we will take steps to delete it. Parents who believe their child has provided us with personal data should contact us.

9. Security Measures

We implement technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss or misuse. Measures include encryption (e.g., TLS), access controls, secure coding practices and periodic audits. However, no system is 100 % secure; please protect your device and account information and notify us immediately of any security concerns.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in laws, technologies or our practices. We will post the updated policy on our website with a new "Effective Date" and notify users via in‑game notices or other appropriate means. Continuing to use our games after changes means you accept the updated policy.
